The clinic expanded in 1963 with Dr Claude E. Dupont and Dr Yves A. Prévost, who together would lead the department of plastic surgery at the Hôpital Notre-Dame for a period of over 25 years. During their tenure at the hospital, they trained the majority of plastic surgeons in the province of Quebec. In addition to their contribution to teaching and training, the pioneering team developed a wide-reaching expertise in aesthetic surgery. In 1999, after completing a fellowship in aesthetic surgery, Dr Hashim was approached by Dr Dupont and Dr Prévost to join the clinic and carry on the tradition of excellence. Dr Hashim (who is a native of Cowansville, Quebec), began practicing his art at the clinic in January, 2000.

It quickly became evident to the older members of the group that Dr Hashim had an intuitive sense of aesthetic surgery, and he raised the practice to even greater levels. Dr Hashim is trilingual (French, English and Spanish). He is a graduate of McGill University (Montreal) where he received many awards during his training. His graduate degree in Experimental Surgery on surgical interventions of the foetus led to the creation of the McGill University Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Group. He underwent a fellowship in aesthetic surgery at the Cosmetic Surgery Hospital under Dr Lloyd N. Calsen. Like Dr Dupont and Dr Prévost, he is currently a staff member at the Hôpital Notre-Dame (Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal – CHUM) in the department of plastic surgery and is an associate professor at the University of Montreal.

Under his leadership, the clinic has become a member of the The Canadian Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (www.caaasf.org), an organization that develops standards for surgical facilities. All surgical procedures performed under local anesthetic at our facilities conform to these standards. The CAAASF requires that the surgeon has the required training to perform surgery, that the nursing staff are fully accredited and that all staff have up-to-date training in dealing with any emergencies. Dr Hashim is a member of numerous societies. To name a few, he is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (www.royalcollege.ca), the College of Physicians of Quebec (www.cmq.org) and the American Board of Plastic Surgery (www.abplsurg.org). With exceptional and meticulous surgical talents, a focused mind and Olympian calm, Dr Hashim is recognized internationally for his contributions to surgery and surgical teaching. He is also a consultant in plastic surgery for Doctors Without Borders (www.doctorswithoutborders.org), where he gives help on complex surgical issues.
